Quiet Buds

Just think.  For months and months of cold, dark, dreary Chicago winter, the buds of these flowers were waiting to come out and surprise us with blooms.  I thought it was an ugly bush that just attacked my hair every time I went to get into my husby's car.  But no.  No, my friends.  It is a well-developed take-no-prisoners LILAC plant.  I was so excited that I allowed the little tiny bugs that frequent lilac bushes to get all over my hands while collecting some stems for my new watering can container.  This is a big deal.  I think about bugs and itch for an hour.  But, every time I found a little bug on my hand, I just looked at these fragrant lavendar blooms and smiled.
